Happy birthday Grandma D

Grandma had a birthday last week.  We got together to celebrate last night...
Yes, Grandma is turning 3;)

Happy birthday Grandma from all the grandkids!

Decorative Leaves

It is time to get crafty again after our summer off(or so it feels!)!  We  cut out leaves and decorated them with peas and beans...
Lesson Learned-I need to trace a leaf versus free drawing.  Kg told me they looked more like hands:/

Thoughtful Thursday - Milwaukee Museum

I've been so busy I didn't post last weeks fun day!  Our summer pass to the Milwaukee Museum is expiring this week so we decided to go and use it one more time!  The butterfly room was our favorite...

The butterflies loved Kg's flower headband!

Kb, Kg and I had a fun day together!

Campground Trick or Treat

Trick or Treat...Camping Style!

We had a lot of fun!  I did have to explain to a lot of people why Kb and Kg yelled, "no, I can't have that" when people would try to give them candy with peanuts!  After explaining they are allergic and know it people understood:)

Fishing Weekend

Dh's Guys fishing weekend changed to a family fishing weekend last year. It was a fun weekend so we made it an annual trip! The kids didn't catch anything so they didn't feel like it was successful fishing, but it was fun!

Chalkboard in Playroom

I've been wanting to put a chalkboard in the playroom for a while now, I just wasn't sure which wall to put it on or if I could make it work(I am not very artisitic!).  Well, I decided to go for it and chose this wall...

before...

during...

after...
Now I think I want to rearrange the playroom again!  The chalkboard turned out great and I love the green we chose!

While R's Away, Kg Will Play...

Now that R is in school again, Kg can play with all R's toys without her interferring playing with her!  If R were home she would not let Kg put Kit and Molly's dogs in Kit's desk...

R would flip if she knew Kg was sitting at Kit's table for a tea party.  Kids must sit on the floor, only dolls can sit in the chairs(yes, a good rule I know...I let Kg indulge this once)...
The horses would be allowed to take part in the tea party...
but they wouldn't be wearing R's scarf...
R loves her sister and enjoys playing with her, but R is now seven and wants to play her way the way the toys were meant to be played with.
Kb played a little too, but he was painting pine cones also at this time!

Pinecone Pumpkins and Ghosts/Get Well Uncle D

Kb wanted to paint pinecones this week!  We decided to make some ghosts and pumpkins...

I asked Kb what he wanted to do with them and he said he wanted to give them to Uncle D.  Uncle D and Papa had to cut their trip to Alaska short(a week short) because Uncle D, they believe, was bit by a brown recluse spider.  A nasty arm and an unsanitary environment with no hospital sent them home sooner than planned.  A positive is the 12 antiobiotic pills a day along with steroids and intravenus meds daily have helped get it looking 1,000 times better Uncle D said!  He isn't fully recovered yet, but getting there.
R wanted to get Uncle D a card too.  We put the card, some treats and the pincones in a bucket and dropped it off Friday.  Get well Uncle D!!!

Thoughtful Thursday - Birthday Party Shopping

School is underway and everyone is settled in their routines. R is enjoying 1st grade and Kb & Kg are having fun in 4yr preschool.

Kb, Kg and I are enjoying our final year home together before Kindergarten. It is September and I am already sad thinking about Kindergarten! They have school three mornings, gymnastics one morning and a 'day off'. I decided that we would have a fun day(like we did last year with Field Trip Fridays).

Today we went to the party supply store shopping for their birthday party supplies! What a trip. I talked up 'joint party' options(Smurfs, Curious George) and was told no by both. I then gave up and stood in the middle of the aisle as they looked at everything. They loved it! Kb settled on Spiderman right away and never changed his mind! Kg started with My Little Pony, then Princess and finally decided on Horses!

I walked out with two happy almost five year olds and took my joyful duo to A&W for lunch:). I'm going to miss days like this next September(yes, I am getting teary eyed:(

bike Repair

Only a 7yr old can do it properly!

1st Soccer Game for Kb & Kg

Kb and Kg had their first soccer game today!!

Kb had a rough start.  He didn't understand why kids would take the ball from him when he was trying to kick it in the goal.  He also didn't like that he would kick it down field and a teammate would take it and score the goal.  While he was out we watched the other kids play and talked about team work and working together with your team.  After that he did much better and was a good team player!  Kb is quick, he could run down field faster than a lot of other kids out there!
Kg did great!  She knew how to get herself in there and get the ball.  She doesn't care that she may be the only girl on the field, she wants that ball.  When she would score a goal she would do her own little cheering dance for herself, so cute!

On field you would never know they were twins by how they played(ie they didn't bicker or try to steal the ball from each other;)
*Kb isn't actually picking his nose, he is scratching the outside.  Not the best picture taking moment, oops!
