Slumber Party and Sledding

R had her first slumber party at our house.  Two of her friends spent the night(they were all great and knowone called home in the middle of the night!).  In the morning the kids went out sledding on our cul du sac hill.  Yep, we sled on the snow pile made by the plows;)

Happy Valentines Day!

When I asked the kids what Valentines they wanted this year they asked what we were going to make. I realized that we have always made some sort of homemade Valentines.  This year the kids picked easy choices.  

Kg wanted butterfly sucker Valentines...

R wanted "You Rock" pop rocks...

Kb wanted "You Rock" suckers(I  know it is upside down, oops!)...

I found a really good sweet snack mix(maple syrup makes it sweet) recipe on Pinterest!  I made it for all three kid's classes for school....

Kg's Thought for Today...

Yesterday Kg said, "I'm done with winter. When I go to college I'm going to go to Florida and then come back to Wisconsin for the summer."  Good plan, Kg...we may join you;)

The work question...

I knew it would be coming now that all three kids are in school full time; "are you going to go back to  teaching full time?"  It took until January for people to start asking, but in a month at least a half dozen people have asked.  I responded the first few times with a long winded reply about how I'm substitute teaching, volunteering at school and Girl Scout leader for both girl's troops. After the first few times being asked I realized that I was justifying my choice to work part time and volunteer more to people when really I shouldn't have to. I don't judge parents who work full time, parents who work part time or parents who stay home so I need to stop worrying about people judging my decision. As long as dh is supportive then who cares what others think(easier said than done).  So, for now I'm going to be a part time working, part time volunteering mom and someday I may switch gears...but I hope for not a couple more years!

Roller Skating

We hadn't been roller skating in a while and the kids asked if could go.  We learned that if you go right when they open, knowone is there yet and you have the rink to yourself!  

Finally, knowone asked to use one of the skate helper bars!!  The kids had a great time...
