R's Book

R brought a note home saying she was going to have a classroom book published.  We didn't know what it was about, but sent our order in for one.  I am so glad we did!!

R drew a family picture (notice extra family members...it is Dad, Kg, R, Mom, Kb, Auntie M, Uncle J and his guitar.  In the green circle is Izzy:)...
 What she wrote...
It is hard covered, bound book with a year, classroom name and school on the front cover.  Just wonderful!!!

Who am I Kidding...

I had a great idea to give up Facebook for lent.  I knew I was spending to much time online and this was one way to cut down on that time.  What I forgot was how heavily people use FB instead of e-mail and the phone these days!

Last weekend we ran into some friends and they mentioned their dog dieing.  Dh and I both didn't realize and were sorry to hear that. She mentioned it happened a couple weeks ago and that she posted it on Facebook.  Never saw the post:(

Another friend decided to go out for her birthday and tie it in with a Beer Bash her softball team was having.  I assume the Beer Bash invite was posted for a couple weeks, but I didn't see it until the day of and that was to late to try to get a sitter.

Giving up Facebook has stopped me from spending wasted time on the computer reading a lot of stuff I don't need to read, but it has also stopped me from reading actual events in peoples lives!  My rant summed up...I don't miss all the time in front of the computer, but I now realize that I need to spend some time in front of it or I feel lost.  A crutch?  Definately.  A crutch I want to give up forever?  Nope.

Early Release Day!

R had Early Release from school and H was with Grandma so we got together to play!

Finally spring!  Warm enough to go for a ride in the Gator(with winter coats and hats of course;)...

R drove!  Well, she steered while I was in charge of the gas peddle!
Ahh, the stone puppies are still there for us to visit...
Grandma found these cute little mini greenhouses for the kids.  Each one planted their own flowers...
Kb placed them next to their pictures to grow(feel free to move them Grandma:)...

We made our first spring trip to the Garden Center to see Oscar(the cat)!!
Now please send spring weather so we can ditch the winter coats and hats!!!

Kindergarten Parent Lunch

A few weeks ago R brought home a note about 'Parent Lunch' at her school.  On the note it said the date, time for lunch and listed a few lunch choices.  Dh and I filled out the form, made lunch selections and sent back our $6(I may have filled it out and forgot to tell dh the lunch selected for him, but that is beside the point;).  We have never done this before and figured that is what we were supposed to do.

Yesterday we both pull up to school and walk in with the other parents.  As we enter the cafeteria to find a seat we notice a sea of parents with McDonalds bags.  I asked dh if we missed the memo on that one. As I looked around I saw parents that have an older child all had McDonald's bags.  Parents that have their oldest in Kindergarten were empty handed like us.  I was a little worried that R would wonder why she didn't get McDonalds like a lot of her friends.

Well, the kids came in and R was smiling from ear to ear so excited that Daddy AND Mommy could join her for lunch!  She proudly showed us to the lunch line, taught us how to get a tray, silverware, our milk and food.  Took us to the lunch lady and punched in her number.  We all then went to our table and we ate together.  Afterwards she showed dh to the tray dumping station and then we sat down to chat some more about her day.

She never even noticed the other kids eating at all.  I was so happy to see her so happy to have us there with her.  It was so fun for her to give dh and I a glimpse of this part of her school day that we had never seen before.

Now when we go to Kb & Kg's Kindergarten lunch in a couple years we will get to see their excited faces to show us this process(and we will be armed with McDonalds to save us from eating school lunch;)

Happy Easter Papa!

R was looking through my card box and found this card...

She said, "Papa will LOVE this card, she has a gun"!  For those of you that don't know, Papa is a hunter.
She signed it, "Rylee, dad, mom, Rylee and Kaden.

Easter Bunny & Egg Crafts

Our craft closet was looking a bit scary and we needed to give it a little cleaning out!  To do so I decided to let the kids use a bunch of items that were scattered around stored in there!
Grandma & H came over so we got a little crafty...
H's bunny (a cotton ball on his chin for a little extra fluff:)...
Kg's bunny ( when I asked why so many beads she told me the bottom are his mouth, the top are his hair and the rest are to make him look pretty;)...
Kb's bunny (he said he has a happy face:)...

Kg's egg...
H's egg...
(Kb didn't make an egg, he had moved on to reading stories with Grandma at this time)

Our festive front door!

Date Night

Dh and I went out for a date Saturday night!  Thank you Grandma H for watching the kiddos for us!!

It was nice to get out and shop, see a movie and chat over dinner.  The highlights...

We had to return a coat to Gymboree.  As we were walking in I told dh that the coat was $17 so I had to spend that much so I wouldn't lose my Gymbuck.  It was a coat for Kb so the plan was to find him something.  Usually, I shop for the kids without dh and I have to say taking him with had its positives and negatives.
1.)his taste is different from mine.  For some reason dh doesn't love man capris or plaid shorts as much as I do(seriously love both).
2.)he shops the full price rack.  I prefer to shop the sale rack and stack the 25% coupon on top of the sale price to make things more affordably priced.  He picked out a few things and was suprised when I said no way to them.  I filled him in on my shopping ways...seriously everything in Gymboree goes on sale within a couple months so why pay full price(I must be getting cheaper as I get older:/).
A huge kuddos to dh though, he found some super cute things for the kids!  Actually we bought a lot more than we would have had I went on my own.  For that reason I think he needs to shop with me more often(he will just have to adjust to my clothing preferences because man capris and plaid shorts are a staple in Kb's summer wardrobe;)!

We went to an adult movie!  I didn't have to watch for spilling popcorn, hand anyone their soda or take potty breaks during the movie...it was a relaxing movie!

Dinner at Old Madrid was awesome, I love that place.  If you have never been it is on 6th St. in downtown Racine, highly recommend it!

Thanks again Grandma H!  The kids had a blast with you and Grandpa H and dh and I enjoyed our evening out!!

Craft Closet

Thank you for coming over to play Grandma & H so I could organize our craft closet!  I hope you both had fun with shaving cream painting(I know Kb & Kg did!)...

I'm happy we went from this...
 To this...
Now, to keep it that way(and to get shelves built in for easier organization...hint hint dh;)

Field Trip Friday-The Domes

We took a trip to the Milwaukee Domes!  They had the train show(perfect for Kb) and Fairy Tales (perfect for Kg).  Plus kids 5 and under are free!

It was a nice visit, except Kb & Kg must have taken whiney pills today:/  Seriously, they were not on their best behavior.  Grandma had mentioned that she wanted to check out the Domes so she came with us today!

A few pictures...

Kg wanted to know why Cinderella's step sisters and step mother weren't there....

Checking out the 'slimey rock' as they called it!

Kg said her favorite was the desert dome, Kb said his favorite was the train dome!

Field Trip Friday-Discovery World

R had off school Friday!  She requested that we go to Discovery World!  We have a year pass(thanks to the half price membership we purchased from one of the local deal sites:).  Grandma and her friend Jan came along for some fun...

Kg was a good fake sleeper! Seeing her this way reminded me of when she was a newborn(they are all growing up so fast:(...

Thank you for coming with us Grandma and Jan!!
